Elaine Smith, BA, EA,
Elaine received her BA in Education from the University of Michigan. She taught junior high school for 2 years and then moved to California. Prior to raising her family, she worked 5 years as a Deputy Probation Officer with the Los Angeles County Probation Department.
Elaine began preparing individual income taxes for H&R Block, in 1984. After passing the difficult two day Enrolled Agent exam in 1991, she began her own business in 1992, specializing in individual income tax preparation for new homeowners and military personnel, as well as preparation of tax returns for any state with an income tax.
Today’s constantly changing tax laws make it an absolute necessity for tax professionals to maintain and update their expertise through annual continuing education. Elaine is no exception and regularly takes professional courses in estate tax preparation, tax law, business entities and related fields in order to stay abreast of current tax changes and provide a more complete service to her clients.
